Coming back from an amazing weekend where Fandom Fitness made it’s Comic Convention debut at NerdFaire, I wanted to share some of my favorite Fandom Foods.
When we moved to the Pacific Northwest, my husband and I quickly found a strong love for Pho. To be honest, what’s not to love? Especially on cold, wet winter days? Hot soup with TONS of veggies, and lots of flavor.
I’m always game to trying new foods at home, too, so when I found a recipe for something LIKE pho, I immediately went for it. However, I quickly discovered it wasn’t quite pho, it was closer to ramen noodles. Making the hot noodle soup my own, I didn’t want to call it “Ramen Noodles”. It just didn’t conjure up the right image in my mind.
But then I remembered the anime show Naruto. I used to watch it many years ago, but haven’t seen it in close to 10 years. What I do remember is that Naruto’s favorite food is ramen noodles. And my first Fandom Food creation was born.
Naruto’s Feast is still a great choice for the cold winter months. If you can’t find ramen noodles (NOT the instant ramen), you can use soba noodles, or in a pinch, rice noodles. And as always, this is Naruto’s favorite meal, but you can change things around to make it yours.
Ingredients- 1 serving
- 3-4 oz Ramen noodles
- 3 cups broth
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- ¼ cup green onion
- 1 carrot, sliced
- ¼ cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 egg, hard boiled*
- Choice of protein- 4 oz chicken, 4 oz sliced pork, 8 medium shrimp)
- Heat broth and ramen noodles in a large saucepan over medium heat.
- Add soy sauce, green onion, carrots, and mushrooms. Bring to a boil. Lower heat and let simmer for 10 minutes
- Peel and halve hard boiled egg. Place in saucepan along with protein. Let simmer for a couple more minutes and transfer to a bowl.
*If you want to cook the egg with the meal, heat the broth with the egg in the pot. Once it is boiling, turn down to medium heat and add ramen noodles and follow the rest of the directions. Remove the egg when the soup is done, peel it and then place back in the bowl with protein and veggies.
